Beat the heat with this guilt-free and uber refreshing sugar-free Cherry Cooler! 🙂
You guys! I’m so so sorry for being completely AWOL over the past two months. But I’m super grateful to you for sticking around and giving my blog some company. Here’s the deal; I’ve got NEWS! I grew tired of apologizing for not posting blogs often enough, so I quit my job and I’m taking a break. That, and I’m making a 360º lifestyle change, more of which I’ll let on about in time. You’re going to hear from me a lot more from now on and I’m super excited that I have all this time to devote to food and blogging. (I hope you’re excited too?) 😛
The peak of summer is here and IT. IS. KILLING! If this is not indication enough that global warming is real, I don’t know what is! Though we’ve had a few scanty showers of rain, the heat and humidity have been soaring and how. Monsoon, get here already! 😀
So, when the folks at Sviten India sent me their natural sweetener to try out, the first thing that popped into my mind was ‘SOMETHING COLD’! Upon rummaging through the contents of my refrigerator, I knew that beautiful, juicy, red Cherries had to be the star of the show! And thus came about this gorgeous, summery, sugar-free Cherry Cooler!
Here’s what you need for this summer quencher:
- Fresh Cherries – 1 cup, pitted & chopped
- Juice of 1 large Lemon
- Sviten Stevia Natural Sweetener – 3 1-gram sachets
- Chilled Water – 2 & 1/2 cups
- A pinch of salt
Here’s how you make this super refreshing sugar-free Cherry Cooler:
- In a blender, add cherries, lemon juice, Sviten Stevia Natural Sweetener, chilled water and salt. Whizz it up until it is nice and frothy.
- Do a taste test and check for the right amount of sweetness and tartness. If you’d like it to be sweeter, you can add more Sviten Stevia Natural Sweetener.
- When you’re happy with the flavour, strain the drink and pour into some gorgeous glasses/jars and top off with a few ice cubes. Admire that perfect pink hue for a bit and then sip up! Refreshing, ain’t it? 😉
I’ve always been wary of sweeteners, both artificial and those that ‘claim’ to be natural. The artificial ones, well there’s tonnes of info out there about how unhealthy they are. So, I’ve always stuck with sugar, brown sugar, jaggery, honey, dates and maple syrup, when it comes to the act of ‘sweetening’.
But with Sviten Stevia Natural Sweetener, I’m not wary. This zero calorie, all natural sweetener is made from Stevia, and only Stevia! While the packaging says that 1 sachet of Sviten Stevia Natural Sweetener is equal to a teaspoon of sugar, I would like to let you know that Stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar! By that math, you really need to start with little and keep adding Sviten Stevia, bit by bit, to your daily cuppa, food, desserts, etc., until you reach your desired sweetness. As always, I recommend tweaking the sweetness of any recipe I post on here to suit your taste buds.
This Cherry Cooler is a 100% guilt-free summer treat that I guarantee you can’t get enough of. It is tangy and tart, sweet, citrus-y and complete with the amazing goodness of fresh, ruby-red cherries! It’s the kind of drink you want as part of your Sunday brunch spread. The kind you want to come home to after a long day. Take a sip and you’ll keep going back for more!
I’m happy to report that Sviten Stevia Natural Sweetener is a definite hit. And it is what makes this recipe one that you can keep whipping up batch after batch of, without a care in the world! I can’t wait to experiment more with this natural sweetener and see what else it works in!
If there’s one good thing about and Indian summer, it’s the beautiful fruit! Mangoes, berries, cherries, I love them all. So, if you’re looking for a legit way to chill this summer, while keeping the calories at bay, whip up a batch of this summery Cherry Cooler, pour it into a fancy glass, lounge back, drink up and chill out. Like literally! 😛
